Northern WI State Fair, 2008

On 7/10 we went to the Northern Wisconsin State Fair and had sooo much fun! It was the first year that we rode the Ferris Wheel, and Caleb even wanted to ride scarier rides(I didn't let him). He's really growing up, both he AND Cailey and it makes me sad. :( But I'm definitely proud of the little people that they're becoming. Anyway, the weather was a little gloomy and it sprinkled a little, but it wasn't horribly hot so that was a plus. No elephants again this year, but there was some guy with a python and I was definitely more afraid than the kids! We rode some rides, played some games, ate some greasy (yummy) fair food, rode the free train around the fairground and tried to check out some of the animals but apparently most of them don't arrive until today. Oh well, they're stinky anyway. :) Oh, yeah, and Caleb stepped in a pile of poop and then proceeded to try to wipe it off with his hands. YUK. We're going camping in Holcombe this weekend, otherwise we'd definitely go again so they could see the animals and ride the ponies. Next year! :)

Cailey actually chose to ride with her big bro...surprised me because she's usually little miss independent.
Cailey "fishing" We steered clear of the trout pond this year, I couldn't handle the fish slowly flopping around, dying inside the plastic bag they give you after you catch it. Plastic fishies are less morbid.

This is a little train that buzzed you around the fairgrounds and out to the parking lot for free. The driver had a pomeranian named Spunky by his side the entire time. Apparently they have three of them in their camper and they ride on the train all day, completely content. Cute!

I was a little nervous being on the Ferris Wheel with the sky so dark...but we survived.

Caleb and Cailey in the Mason "Shoe". They really had some fun stuff for kids this year.
